Fort Lean recently released its first video for the song “Perfect.” You can catch the Brooklyn-based band at The Gutter on Sept. 9th and at Shea Stadium on Sept. 30th.

thenewno2 – “Live A Lie” feat. Regina Spektor

Thenewno2 have announced that they will be releasing their EP002 on Sept. 27 via Dhani Harrison’s H.O.T. Records (that’s Henley-on-Thames, in case you’re wondering). The band, a collective, includes Harrison, Jeremy Faccone, Jonathan Sadoff, Nick Fyffe, Frank Zummo, and Paul Hicks. The EP features appearances by RZA and Regina Spektor, among others.

The band has just released “Live a Lie,” featuring Spektor, available for free download. You can listen below and click here to download.

Miles Kane – “Colour of the Trap”

Miles Kane’s first full-length, solo album, “Colour of the Trap,” was released in May on Columbia Records UK. I came across the single “Come Closer” (listen below) while perusing the We Are Hunted playlist. As I’m attracted to anything that would have been featured in the now non-existent Mersey Beat, I knew, at once, that I needed to get my hands on this album.

You may recognize Miles’ sound, as he was the frontman of The Rascals as well as co-frontman of The Last Shadow Puppets (with Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner).

If all goes according to plan, I’ll be seeing Miles perform in Liverpool this year…

PledgeMusic & Robbers On High Street

It’s the way of the future. I think. In case you haven’t heard of PledgeMusic, it’s a (relatively) new music-based social networking platform, and it’s the perfect link between independent musicians/bands and their fanbase.

Need money to actually finish an album? Want to plan a tour in support of an upcoming album release, but don’t have the money upfront? With PledgeMusic (and no, I’m not being paid to advertise them in any way), an artist or band can set up a project to begin receiving pledges.

I found out about PledgeMusic when one of my favorite bands, Robbers on High Street, began using the platform to support their upcoming LP. Robbers, an indie, Brooklyn-based, power-pop band will be releasing their third album, “Hey There Golden Hair,” on Sept. 13. Fans of the band can pledge to receive some unique items (and experiences) before the release date. As long as a band reaches its goal, fans who have pledged in advance will receive the items they have pledged on and know that they played an important part in supporting their favorite musicians.
